CATHRENE BEHRENS
CITY TREASURER/FINANCE DIRECTOR
On November 1, 2004, Cathrene Behrens was sworn in as the Treasurer/Finance Director, replacing Joyce Golden. Cathy began her career with the City of Walled Lake in February of 1995. She was hired as Police/Fire Dispatcher and was promoted to Administrative Assistant in August of 1998. Her role as Administrative Assistant provided an opportunity for Cathy to develop an interest in the financial field.
She is a Walled Lake Western graduate and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1991 from Oakland University and is currently pursuing her Master of Public Administration degree from Eastern Michigan University. Cathy also graduated from the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Institute through Central Michigan University in 2002 and is working on attaining her C.P.F.A. (Certified Public Finance Administrator). In addition to her duties as Treasurer/Finance Director for the City, she serves as Treasurer of the Downtown Development Authority.

KIMBERLY K. SMITH
DEPUTY TREASURER
On March 20, 2007, the City Council appointed Kimberly K. Smith as Deputy Treasurer. Kimberly began her career with the City of Walled Lake on April 9, 2007. She comes to us from the City of Clare working as a Deputy Clerk. Kimberly K. Smith is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerk’s (IIMC) the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerk’s, and the Michigan Municipal Treasurer’s Association.
Kimberly has an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Baker College. In March, 2005, Kimberly earned her designation of Certified Municipal Clerk from the IIMC. Kimberly is currently working on her Treasurer’s Certification with the Michigan Municipal Treasurer’s Association.
